The Council owns and manages a stock of approximately 2,700 homes and over 500 long leasehold flats.
During 2004/05, the Council carried out a detailed review of alternative options for the future management of the stock, including the possibility of transferring the homes to a Registered Social Landlord (Housing Association). The exercise concluded with the housing stock being kept by the Council. This reflected the wish of the vast majority of tenants who responded to surveys throughout the review process.
