Notes on completion
This form is an appendix to the Housing Register (housing waiting list) application form. You must either already be on the Housing Register or complete and return a Housing Register form along with this form before key worker status will be considered. When you have completed this form you will automatically be taken back to the page where you accessed this form, from there you should follow the link to the Housing Register form if you have not already completed one. The Key Worker Application form requests information from the applicant and their employer in order to verify the applicant’s / employee’s employment status and to assess whether they should be considered as a Key Worker for the purposes of housing provision.
Part 1 should be completed by the applicant / employee. They should sign and date the form giving permission for their employer to disclose any of their personal information as requested in the form.
Part 2 should be completed by the Personnel/ Human Resources Department, signed and dated by the appropriate Senior Officer and stamped with the Company stamp. If the Company does not have its own department for Personnel matters, a Senior Officer in the Company with responsibility for recruitment should sign and date the form.
The Council defines Key Workers as those who:
- Provide essential public services such as health and personal care, education, police and emergency services, social services and other local authority staff; and/or
- Contribute to the infrastructure and economic viability of the area, such as transport providers, postal service workers, domiciliary support, refuse collectors, and shop workers. This is not an exhaustive list but gives an example of how private sector services contribute to the overall well-being and sustainability of an area. For example providing housing opportunities for shop workers might keep a village shop open.
The situation of Key Workers will vary in response to economic and personal conditions. There will be shortages of different types of teachers or health workers at different times.
To be accepted as a Key Worker for any of the Council’s housing opportunities, the applicant must provide a service to the residents of Tandridge. Employers will be expected to verify applicant’s employment details and give details of the difficulty in recruiting to or retaining the post.
Please note that the above type of workers are not automatically considered as Key Workers, but each case will be considered on its merits.
