As of 1 December the VAT rate will reduce from 17.5% to 15% and we are currently working on updating our fee schedule, published on this website, to reflect this. However, until then, if you are intending to submit an application from Monday 1 December please recalculate the VAT element of your application fee at the new rate of 15%.
Tandridge Building Control has joined forces with other Local Authority Building Control departments throughout the South East to launch the first LABC SE Building Excellence Awards.
Architects, developers, building owners and builders are invited to take part in the 2009 Awards which will culminate in a prestigious awards ceremony next June, with the regional winners being put forward for the National Awards.
The Awards aim to highlight the importance of Building Control in achieving high standards - acknowledging the role that building regulations play in the creation of high performance buildings - and gives well deserved recognition to companies and individuals within the construction industry who are committed to producing high quality buildings throughout the South East. What do the building regulations cover?
Building regulations cover the way that the building is constructed such as its structural stability, fire resistance, weather resistance etc.
Planning permission relates to the siting, design, size, height and bulk of the development and its impact on neighbouring properties and the surrounding area. Anyone carrying out building work should seek advice from Building Control and Development Control at the earliest possible stage.
The national body for Building Control is Local Authority Building Control (LABC). This is a publicly accountable independent service dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in building design and construction.
