Have your say
Now that autumn is here it's time to deal with all those fallen leaves. Don't waste them, instead turn them into something really useful, leaf mould.
Leaf mould is a dark brown, pleasant smelling, crumbly material that makes an excellent soil improver, lawn conditioner and mulch. It can also be used in seed and potting mixes.
Making leaf mould is easy and to help make it even easier you can collect FREE leaf mould bags (approximately 90cm H x 90cm L x 90cm W) from the Council Offices in Oxted subject to stock availability as it will be first come first served. Please note they are limited to two per household. To avoid a wasted journey please check availability by calling or emailing Amenity Services, details below.
Don't worry if you can't get to the Council offices to collect a leaf mould bag as you can make your own. Simply fill some plastic sacks with damp leaves, pierce a few times to let in some air and leave to mature for at least six months. For larger quantities use some posts and mesh to make a container - you can vary the size and shape according to the amount of leaves you have.
