Lottery projects completed

Our aim is to build inspiring and challenging places for children to play across the district. I am delighted we are achieving this, thanks to successful bids for funding and by working with local residents and parish councils.

The last of four lottery funded projects was recently completed in Tatsfield, with others in Caterham, Limpsfield and Smallfield. This has led to the development of two multi use games areas, a new playground and improvements to an existing play facility.

In addition, a £50,000 play area has been created at Stafford Road Recreation Ground in Caterham, following consultation with children, parents and the parish council.

The funding for this came from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) Playbuilder scheme.

Children in Bletchingley also benefited from a new £85,000 playground at Grange Meadow Recreation Ground, built after consultation with children, parents and the parish council.

Bletchingley Playground Friends raised just over £35,000 towards the project, while £50,000 was provided by the Playbuilder scheme.

Over the next four years we will be refurbishing more of our 35 play areas to make sure we continue to provide play spaces that are valued by the community and where children of all ages play together.

None of this would be possible without the support of residents and parish councils, combined with the Council's own play area expertise.

We now have some fantastic play and sports facilities, which I hope everyone can enjoy.
