Tandridge residents and people working in the District can personally present petitions to any full Council or Committee meetings.
The petition must concern an issue which is relevant to the Council, or which affects a specific area in the District or its residents. It should not relate to planning or enforcement issues.
Anyone wishing to present the petition must give at least fourteen clear days notice before the meeting to the Chief Executive, Stephen Weigel and send a copy to him. The Chief Executive will then decide whether the petition is acceptable to be presented.
Those presenting the petition will have three minutes to speak in support of the petition. Councillors will consider the petition and take any action they decide is necessary. A petition is defined by the Council as a written request signed by ten or more persons.
You can also speak at a committee in support of, or against a planning application. Public speaking is not allowed on certain types of application, such as mineral or waste disposal applications that are determined by Surrey County Council.
