Use of Technology
Technology continues to play an increasing part in the life of our community and its application will enable the Council and its citizens to work in different ways. Technology will assist changes in lifestyle and whereas the office used to provide the model for advanced use of technology, increasingly the home is also an area of computer exploitation. Tandridge residents now expect access to services using the internet as we become a nation of internet shoppers who manage their money through online accounts.
Computers and the internet are not for everyone, however. Tandridge must use technology to deliver services by which ever method the citizen requires. We must also be aware of the variety of technology which our community is becoming used to, from mobile phones and satellite navigation to assistance for the elderly or alarm systems for the disabled. Tandridge must use its resources to greatest effect, and use these technologies to deliver an efficient service.
Tandridge District Council works to a Strategy for its Information Technology systems, and it is expected that a fully revised strategy will be published in late 2008. This strategy will describe, amongst other details;
