24 hour revenues & benefit information line

Our automated telephone service 08459 400 470 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so you can get information at a time that suits you. Calls are charged at the local rate.

General enquiries can be answered by this automated service, which means our staff have more time to deal with difficult enquiries and to process your claims.

Staff are still available to be contacted on the normal office numbers 8.30am-5pm (4.30pm on Friday) for claim specific questions or to make a telephone payment for council tax or business rates.

The automated line does not take payments, although this will be made available in the near future.

You can use hotkeys for some of the most popular choices. Simply press that number after you have dialled the full number or at any time during the introduction and it will take you directly to the information that you want.

The hotkeys are:


1. For how the Council Tax is set and where the money is spent.
2. For valuation bands, exempt dwellings, discounts and disabilities information. What to do if your bill is wrong and a full explanation of the bill itself.
3.To request a form be sent for: Moving in to the district, applying for a discount including single persons allowance, applying for an exemption for an empty property.
4 For methods of paying and to ask for a form to pay by direct debit.
5. For information about Business Rates.
6. For help if you are having difficulty paying your bill or If you have received a reminder or summons or notice of a bailiff visit.
7. To request a Housing or Council Tax Benefit application form.
8. If you have had a change of circumstance and want to know how to tell us about it.
9. If you do not agree with a benefit decision and want to know how to appeal.
0. To make a payment by Debit or Credit Card.
