Set up in 1994, the East Surrey Cardiac Support Group meets at 7pm on the first Thursday of every month in Maple House, East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, to enable anyone with heart problems to relax for a while in friendly, safe surroundings.
We have a mixed programme designed to encourage patients and their families to gradually return to as normal a life as their circumstances allow. We aim to provide an atmosphere where members can have an evening out to enjoy themselves without any pressure. This applies equally to someone waiting for surgery who can be just as anxious.
Speakers cover some medical matters, but also subjects of general interest. After each talk there are light refreshments and the opportunity to mix with others to see how they are coping with this sometimes dramatic development. Outside visits are always leisurely and attendance at meetings is entirely optional and free. Meetings end at 9pm.
