Talking newspaper

imageVoted the Best Talking Newspaper & Magazine tapes in the UK 1997

Since 1981 the Tandridge Lions Talking Newspaper has been dedicated to producing and delivering the local news in cassette format each week free of charge for blind and partially-sighted people in the Tandridge area.
Currently our talking newspapers and magazines are enjoyed by 160 visually-impaired people on a standard cassette player in their own homes.

The news is edited from the local editions of the Surrey Mirror, Croydon Advertiser and East Grinstead Courier as well as from the local free papers. The Council's magazine - the Tandridge Magazine - is also produced on tape by the Talking Newspaper.

The Tandridge Lions Talking Newspaper is totally free to the visually impaired as all help is voluntary. Additionally should a listener not own a cassette player, one can be temporarily loaned free of charge.

If you, or someone you know, would like to receive our Talking Newspaper or help with its production please contact Barbara Chappell on 01342 834223 or Tony Skilbeck on 01883 335945 or e-mail us at Talking newspaper. If you would like to join our 250 Club which provides the funding for the talking newspaper (£1 per month offers the opportunity of cash prizes) please contact Marilyn Hunter on 01883 740279.
