Comments can be made either:
Please remember to address your comments to the Director of Planning quoting the application number eg: TA/2001/1120. No correspondence will be entered into about the merits of a planning application.
Any comments received are not acknowledged, but you will be notified of the Council's decision by letter. If the application is referred to the Development Control Committee for decision you will be further notified in writing (see below).
Under the Local Government (Access to Information Act 1985) your comments will be made available for public inspection and copying. Any comments marked "confidential" or made anonymously may not be taken into account.
Delegated Decisions
Most applications can be decided by the Director or other authorised officers even where objections are received.
However, any applicant or objector can approach their Ward Councillor to ask for an application to be referred to the Council's Development Control Committee. This will be at the discretion of the Director of Planning in conjunction with the Committee Chairman. The names of Ward Councillors can be found on the Tandridge Councillors page.
Development Control Committee
The Committee generally meets every three or four weeks to determine those planning applications that fall outside the remit of the delegation agreement.
These meetings are usually held on Thursday evening in the Council Chamber at the Council Offices, Oxted and start at 7.30pm. Coffee is available for members of the public before the meeting.
Where an application is referred to the Committee and you have made comments you will receive a letter explaining our public speaking arrangements and inviting you to attend the meeting. All comments received are summarised within the agenda reports and are also available in full to Councillors before the meeting.
Petitions
At the Chairman's discretion relevant petitions with not less than 10 signatories may be presented to the Committee immediately before the relevant planning application is discussed.
For more information regarding Committee arrangements please call the Council's Committees team on 01883 732975.
Planning Appeals
In the event of an appeal against the Council's decision your comments will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate and the applicant as part of the appeal process.
You may also be invited to comment further, as well as attend a Public Inquiry or Informal Hearing (usually held at the Council offices) to make your views known in person to an independent Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State to make a decision on her behalf.
