Local Development Framework

The Local Development Framework (LDF)

The Local Development Framework system of Development Plans was introduced by the Government in 2004. A Visual Guide to Local Development Frameworks (This link will open in a new window) is available on the national Planning Portal web site.

The Council is working on its LDF which will replace the Tandridge District Local Plan. (This link will open in a new window)

The Core Strategy (This link will open in a new window) is the first and most important document and this was adopted in 2008. Background information (the evidence base) is available on the Local Development Framework - Evidence Base (This link will open in a new window) page.

You can view the Planning Policy Maps (This link will open in a new window) which include links to the text of Core Strategy and the saved Local Plan.

Local Development Scheme (LDS)
The Local Development Scheme 2009 Revision sets out what individual Local Development Documents the Council will prepare together with a timetable for their production. The revised Scheme came into effect in November 2009.

The Council has been able to "save" many of the existing Local Plan policies beyond 27th September 2007, these saved policies will be replaced as different parts of the Local Development Framework are adopted. With the adoption of the Core Strategy in October 2008 further Local Plan policies have been superseded.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The Statement of Community Involvement 1st Revision March 2010 sets out the Council's arrangements and standards for public consultation.

The Statement of Community Involvement 1st Revision Consultation Statement sets out the comments that were received on the consultation draft, the Council's response to those comments and the amendments to the document.

A Sustainability Appraisal (SA) of all emerging Local Development Documents is required, more information on the SA process is available on the Local Development Framework - Sustainability Appraisal (This link will open in a new window) page.
