The South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) produced a draft document called the South East Plan in 2006 - it includes important choices about development in our region to 2026.
An Independent Panel considered the draft plan in late 2006/early 2007 at an Examination in Public. The Panel Report was published in August 2007 and was submitted to the Government. The Panel's Report is being considered by the Secretary of State who will then advertise a revised Plan for 12 weeks, sometime in 2008. This will be the formal opportunity for the Council to comment. The Secretary of State will then publish the final Regional Spatial Strategy.
The South East England Regional Assembly have published a South East Plan, Panel Report, SEERA Summary which sets out some of the key aspects of the document.
The whole Panel Report is available for inspection at the Council Offices and at public libraries. It is also available on the Government Office for the South East - South East Plan Panel Report web page. However it should be noted that the file size is extremely large and may take some time to open.
