The County Council has prepared a county-wide strategy for Surrey. Briefly this deals with setting the overall development context for the county taking into account the national and regional context set by government and regional advisors.
The current Surrey Structure Plan 2004 and associated strategies provides a policy context for topics such as housing, transportation, minerals and waste disposals, countryside, nature conservation and economic development.
The system of Structure Plans and Local Plans nationally is being replaced by Regional Spatial Strategies and Local Development Frameworks. The current Surrey Structure Plan will be replaced in 2008/09 by the South East Plan.
