The Core Strategy
In May 2006 the Council published its "preferred options" for its Core Strategy and its Affordable Housing Local Development Document (LDD). On 31st October 2006 the Council's Planning and Environment Committee considered the results of the consultation and agreed to make a number of changes to the documents in the light of the comments.
The next stage was to have been the submission of the documents to the Secretary of State in December 2006. However the Council decided to defer submission until December 2007 to allow additional time to carry out further research to expand the evidence base. The Council has also decided to merge the Affordable Housing document into the Core Strategy and to submit just one document to the Government.
The final draft Core Strategy was considered by the Council's Planning & Environment Committee on 12th December 2007. It was submitted to the Government at the end of December. The public had the opportunity to make representations until 28th February 2008 (see section below).
More information on the overall process of preparing the LDF can be found on the Local Development Framework web page.
