Bus passes

From 1 April 2008, the national concession allows eligible residents to use their new pass for free on any local buses anywhere in England between 9:30am to 11pm on weekdays and at any time at the weekend and on bank holidays.

In addition, Tandridge District Council has funded an extension to the national concession to allow pass holders over 60 to travel for free on bus journeys beginning or ending in Surrey from 9am (ie half an hour earlier than the national scheme). Disabled pass holders can use their new Tandridge pass at any time weekdays and weekends on journeys beginning or ending in Surrey.

There is also an arrangement with Transport for London which allows the new Tandridge bus pass to be used on its buses between 9am to 4:30am the next day on weekdays and at any time at the weekend or on bank holidays.

Cards cannot be used on Express services or excursions, special services, or tram, tube or rail services.

To qualify for a Senior Citizen's permit you must be 60, or over. People with disabilities must be 5 or over and able to provide confirmation of their disability.

To get a pass, all you have to do is complete an application form available from the Council Offices, Oxted. Existing pass holders were sent a renewal form already.

Alternatively application forms are available on line. You can use either of the forms below. The first form can be printed out and filled in by hand or the second form can be filled in online and then printed.

Senior Citizens requesting a pass for the first time will need to prove their eligibility by producing proof of age and residency in the area.

Disabled applicants applying for the first time will also need a letter from Social Services stating their eligibility. Those who cannot travel on their own may be able to get a bus pass which allows a carer to travel free as well.
